DMM: Lappers and Kneelers (Move with the movers, love the lingerers)

Discovery Bible Study (DBS): Gideon (Judges 7)

“Have you heard from the Lord regarding weeding out the ones with whom you are not to partner?” Lelia gave this knowing look as she queried.

Three lessons from Gideon’s life seemed clear to our hearts as we considered unflinching evaluation for this coming year in CPM efforts.

           I.  Posturing Our Hearts to Counterintelligence Gathering for Strategic Intercession

        Tear down the idols/strongholds and build alters in their place- Recon

        Example:

Am*p*en*an Ch*ine*se In*d community strongholds of Peranakan predecessors. Comments regarding Lo*m*bok by Lonely Planet…”this seems to be the only place where mis*sio*naries have not come…” 

• Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what other specific keys to strategic intercession the Lord has revealed to your heart in the past several months?  Intercede. 
• Ask the Holy Spirit who else needs to be at this intercession table: travailing intercessors? vision casting? reproducing extraordinary pray-ers?

          2.   Take the battle to them

• Ask the HS to reveal what action steps of extraordinary prayer to reproduce: personal intercession to increase? Corporate intercession of immediate Kingdom partners...both local and international workers? International/broader intercession partners reproduced?

        3.    Blow the trumpet

• Ask the HS to give His heart on what this means to blow the trumpet in your unique sphere of influence

Two other discoveries for our hearts seemed to be on the menu…asking God to weed out those with whom we are not to partner for the launch of cascading movements.

As I consider the story of Gideon and read of how the Lord instructed him to pay attention to those of his army who kneeled at the water source, it was those who chose to lap/cup their hands to obtain the same life giving source whom the Lord selected. The lapper/cuppers were the ones who kept an eye on the territory…they cultivated eyes seeing. The kneelers took no attention to the surrounding territory and focused on their own immediate needs. These were not to be selected ones. It was the lappers/cuppers whom the Lord chose. 

What does this tell our hearts when it comes to “moving with the movers, while loving the lingerers?” when it comes to DMM?

Take courage to cull. 

Those who are loyal to the vision but not actively engaged in the vision will consume our time and energy if one is not careful. To be loving to those who are not ready for prime time engagement in loving obedience to make reproducing groups of disciples, is not diametrically opposed to the Father heart of God. To continue pouring into them, if they are not faithful to listening and obeying the ways of the Father in what could help launch a DMM is to not invest our time well.

To love and to release and affirm the “kneelers” could lead to future engagement and further fruitfulness in their lives and in whatever else they feel called to. Remember love, grace and mercy always wins out, no matter the continued formal partnering or going our separate ways.

Pay attention.

Pay attention to how the HS is moving, how the Lord is asking of our hearts to trust Him to be the kind of person, as well as partner with the kind of person, whom He will use to help with the launch of a movement.

In summary, when it comes to the area of extraordinary prayer, we can be assured that the Holy Spirit will guide in the area of needed breakthrough for what is on the Father's heart for a given population segment. And when it comes to the selection of those with whom we are to partner in the process of the launch of longed-for movements to Christ, the Holy Spirit is confident in His ways to lead and confide in those who fear His stunning ways...the Holy Spirit, our perfect guide.
