Fuel of CPM: Persecution Weds Extraordinary Intercession
Persecution Weds Extraordinary Intercession
My husband and I celebrate 32 years to date of serving the
Lord among Muslim Unreached People Groups (MUPG’s) in Southeast Asia. We are
forever grateful for the opportunity to grow in being more sensitive to the
simple process of responding to His bidding.
Through physical attacks and threats,
through life and death medical evacuations,
through deaths of colleagues on the field,
through shepherding others who experience emotional crisis,
through conflicts among the missionary teams,
through loving one another,
through absence of grace demonstrated,
through intense levels of grace apportioned,
through fiery trials,
through spiritual warfare,
through brokenness,
through seasons of grieving, along with seasons of great
celebration…
…somehow the Father delights in having us remain. He alone
gets the glory.
In the midst of all the heartache, the suffering, and the
joy, w
e are continually
convinced that this effort is about His Kingdom and His glory alone. Sifting in
the hands of an almighty God is an ongoing process for those followers He uses
greatly. Sifting is the process of being pressed into His image more and more daily.
Shifting in the bosom of a sovereign Lord is the comfort of knowing Him in the
midst of the process of more readily aligning one’s efforts with His purposes.
In intercession, the concept of asking God for a “sifting and shifting” is a
yearning for His ways above all else, no matter the personal cost.
Those of us involved in the Sumbi /SOLI Muslim Church
Planting Movement (CPM) effort sense that we are on the edge of a breakthrough
into a massive movement. What will be the tipping point? We believe strongly
that very little of eternal consequence is affected apart from
intercession. As we reflect upon this
reality, Spencer and I realize our unmitigated dependency upon the hand of God.
In partnership with the Holy Spirit, God indeed carries out His promises to His
Bride and to the ethne peoples of the earth through intercession.
“Prayer
is the work.”
